Introducing Lightcone Commons
business
Oliver Habryka is launching Lightcone Commons, a platform designed to help wealthy philanthropists coordinate their giving. Zvi Mowshowitz, writing at Don't Worry About the Vase, reports that the timing is strategic: significant new wealth is expected to flow into philanthropy from those exiting Anthropic and OpenAI's initial public offerings, yet most new funders lack expertise in effective grantmaking. The first round is anticipated to involve around twenty million dollars, with applications closing August twenty-third and recommendations made by October. The platform uses the S-Process, a proven system from the Survival and Flourishing Fund, where funders choose which evaluators to follow or fund organizations directly—available to anyone giving one hundred thousand dollars or more annually.
