world
Police in Ireland have intercepted what they described as an extremely significant, highly sophisticated bomb that was being transported in a vehicle near the border with Northern Ireland, The Guardian reports. Officers from the Garda Síochána's special detective unit, which targets dissident republicans, stopped the car on the N two road south of Carrickmacross in County Monaghan on Wednesday afternoon. Two people, a woman and a man, were arrested, and the paper says a woman has since been charged.
