11 people indicted over deaths of six people in cargo container in Texas

world

Federal prosecutors have brought charges in a deadly human-smuggling case along the Texas border. The Guardian reports that a US attorney announced an indictment on Friday against eleven people over the deaths of six migrants, whose bodies were found in a rail cargo container in a Laredo rail yard back in May. The victims, from Honduras and Mexico, included a fourteen-year-old boy, and authorities say all were part of a smuggling effort aboard a freight train. The indictment marks the government's formal move to hold those allegedly responsible to account.
