Netanyahu remains deeply unpopular in Washington, however, among Democrats, Trump's inner circle, and the MAGA base. The timing of the meeting is significant because Trump is considering resuming major combat operations in Iran, potentially in joint operations with Israel. The announcement could signal that no major escalation is planned before Tuesday, or it could be cover for military action—the US and Israel have used similar high-level visit announcements as deception before major strikes against Iran.
