Europe wildfires: more than 300,000 flee homes and holiday accommodation as fires rage

More than three hundred thousand people have fled their homes and holiday accommodation as wildfires tear through parts of Spain and France, according to The Guardian. Thousands crowded into emergency shelters on Sunday, and France is now carrying out one of the largest peacetime civilian evacuation operations it has ever conducted. The fires continue to spread, with authorities racing to contain the blazes as more residents and tourists are moved out of harm's way.
