They continue to face pressure from governments, companies, and development projects over control of their territories, and are asserting their rights through legal challenges and activism, per Global Voices. The media outlet says these struggles rarely make international headlines, and its new initiative through August aims to center Indigenous experiences and share stories from leaders and activists working to make these rights a reality.
