Manifund is launching the Blog Revival Project — a crowdfunding initiative to resurrect dormant blogs. Per Manifund, the problem is real: talented writers have largely stopped blogging because of online pile-ons, algorithmic feeds that amplify outrage, and fear of public scrutiny. To revive good writing, they're seeding eighteen thousand dollars in bounties — eighty-five hundred of their own plus ten thousand in a quadratic match pool — offering bloggers one thousand dollars or more to publish new posts. They're using quadratic funding, a mechanism that amplifies the effect of small donations over large ones, and giving the first hundred patrons twenty-five dollars each to direct toward their favorite defunct bloggers.
