FreeCAD e‑sport speed run challenge at EMF camp 2026

At EMF Camp — the UK's biennial hacker festival drawing around four thousand makers to Eastnor Castle — a recent event put precision CAD on the esports map. According to the Adafruit Blog, organizers in the hardware hacking tent hosted a FreeCAD speedrunning challenge, where competitors raced through three rapid-fire design tasks built from technical drawings. Round one tasked them with modeling a box and adding radial fillets to every edge; round two required creating a hexagonal 'hexpansion' badge add-on; and the final round asked them to replicate a Club Mate bottle's shape. It's a snapshot of how DIY communities are turning the tools of precision engineering into competitive sport.
