Your Agents Are About to Start Firing Your Vendors. Ours Fired Marketo.

saas

SaaStr recently migrated more than ten years of customer data from Marketo to Salesforce Marketing Cloud—but not for the reasons you'd expect. The churn decision didn't come from procurement—it came from an AI agent. The agent kept hitting Marketo's API limits, getting about an hour a day of usable access before stalling. When asked what to do, the agent recommended leaving and gave the company three alternatives. Combined with poor support and a twelve percent price increase request after five years of hikes, the decision became easy. The company would have paid twenty to twenty-five thousand dollars to stay with better API limits, but Marketo never offered to negotiate. Per SaaStr, the migration took a week and cost about fourteen dollars in agent time. The broader lesson: as agents become the primary interface to enterprise software, API reliability is now a churn surface, not a technical spec—and your customers' agents may make their next vendor switch before your team even knows there's a problem.
