U.S. launches fresh airstrikes in Iran

world

Axios reports the U.S. military launched fresh airstrikes against Iran on Wednesday evening. The strikes came after Iran fired missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan on Tuesday—all of which the U.S. military says were intercepted. Trump had paused a thirteen-night bombing campaign on Friday to allow for diplomacy, but the Iranian attack prompted him to resume five days later. Trump said he would hit Iran 'very hard' in response, and later claimed Iran had acknowledged its mistake and asked the U.S. not to retaliate. The strikes mark the end of a brief diplomatic window and the resumption of the broader military campaign.
