‘It was a big shock’: new border rules left couple stuck in Kraków after living in UK for 80 years

Maria and Czeslaw Krupa arrived in Britain as children of displaced Polish war veterans after World War Two, and spent nearly eighty years living in Bury, Greater Manchester. In May, The Guardian reports, while visiting Poland, the couple discovered they no longer had post-Brexit residency rights to return to the UK. Though welcomed as war refugees decades earlier, they now require special post-Brexit paperwork to re-enter their lifelong home.
