Show HN: Gander, an Android file viewer that asks for no permissions at all

A developer shared on Hacker News a tool called Gander, an Android file viewer that opens PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, images, video, audio, Markdown, and code—without requesting any permissions, not even internet access. The motivation was frustration with existing options: large office suites that demand sign-in or lightweight viewers that ask for storage access and upload files to servers. Gander processes everything on your phone using Pdfium for PDFs, Media3 for media, and bundled JavaScript libraries for Office formats—nothing ever leaves the device. The creator notes some limitations: complex PowerPoint presentations render approximately, spreadsheet charts don't render, and older binary Word and PowerPoint files aren't supported. At 14 megabytes and MIT licensed, it's available on GitHub, and the developer is inviting feedback on files that render poorly or need new format support.
