Lawmakers push for immigrant woman’s release and medical records after suspected miscarriage
politics
Immigration attorneys and two Democratic lawmakers say a detained asylum seeker known as Anabell has been unable to obtain her own medical records after a suspected miscarriage at a Kentucky ICE facility. The 19th reports she pleaded in writing for help after days of vaginal bleeding, was hospitalized, and was told hormone levels didn't support a pregnancy, though she says she'd tested positive twice before. Reps. Gwen Moore and Delia Ramirez visited the Campbell County Detention Center on Monday and drafted a signed medical release, but as of Friday neither they nor Anabell's lawyer had received any records. Her attorney says Anabell continues to experience pain, numbness and other symptoms with no further medical care offered.
