‘There’s no nurdle fairy’: thousands mobilise to clean up plastic spillage in north-east England

The Guardian reports that up to two thousand volunteers have mobilized between Cambois in Northumberland and Seaburn on Wearside, sifting through sand with dustpans, brushes, kitchen sieves, and buckets to gather the lentil-sized pellets. One participant, Alice Laverty, noted that the local community 'really cares about the coastline'—a commitment evident in their painstaking work with only the most basic tools.
