Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general, brokered a compromise with Republican senators aimed at securing his confirmation. On Sunday evening, he posted documents withdrawing a May order creating a one point eight billion dollar fund and clarifying that broad tax immunity the Justice Department granted to Trump applied only retroactively to the president, his sons, and their businesses. Per The Guardian, Democrats and policy experts argue the deal is hollow—Trump can easily reverse these commitments.
