Australia's parliamentary inquiry into gambling reform has heard allegations from former rugby league player Luke Bateman that betting company promoters supplied him with cocaine and alcohol. Bateman also alleged he attended private Gold Coast events hosted by gambling firms where senior figures used illegal drugs with clients, The Guardian reports. Federal environment minister Murray Watt responded that offering illegal drugs as an inducement is a crime and that those involved should face consequences.
