Roman Space Telescope Plaque Install

science

According to NASA, technicians recently installed a commemorative plaque on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, honoring the agency's first chief astronomer and a key architect of its modern science program. The plaque features a memory card holding more than one point three million names submitted by people worldwide—including astronauts from NASA's Artemis II and III missions. When the telescope launches at the end of August, it will study exoplanets and planet-forming disks by blocking out starlight, complete a statistical survey of planetary systems across our galaxy, and investigate fundamental questions in dark energy, exoplanet science, and infrared astrophysics.
