Juez de California declara en desacato al DHS en caso relacionado con las redadas de inmigración en Los Ángeles

A federal judge in California has found the Department of Homeland Security in contempt of court for failing to comply with a court order. Per CalMatters, Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong ordered the government in January to digitize the personal cellphones of more than eight hundred immigration agents who participated in Los Angeles raids during twenty twenty-five. The DHS admitted in June that it hasn't met that deadline, processing phones at a rate of just three every two weeks—a pace that would take nearly four years to complete. The judge imposed a fine of five hundred dollars per day on the government until it complies. Civil rights advocates say the phones may contain evidence of racial discrimination, including recordings in which agents used racial slurs to identify immigrants to target for detention.
