EVgo starts building Tesla Superchargers under license

Per Ars Technica, EVgo, one of the largest EV charging networks in the US, is starting to build Tesla Superchargers under license. The company will deploy these Tesla V4 chargers across its network beginning this fall, capable of delivering up to five hundred kilowatts at up to one thousand volts. They'll support both NACS — Tesla's charging standard that's becoming the EV industry norm — and CCS1, the older connector type. Because they're built under Tesla's design, EVgo's Superchargers will automatically show up in Tesla's navigation app and route planner. This move builds on Tesla's shift starting in twenty twenty-three to open its Supercharger network beyond its own vehicles, a pivot that's now reshaping how the EV charging industry standardizes its hardware and plugs.
