Experimental Linux support for the Fairphone 6 wide camera
tech
The Fairphone 6 is an interesting target for mainline Linux and postmarketOS support, though two major barriers remain: audio and camera functionality. A developer working on the project has managed to get one of the phone's cameras—an OmniVision sensor—operating experimentally. The effort required configuring the camera subsystem for the SoC's specific components, describing the hardware in the device tree, and tuning the libcamera framework to convert raw sensor data into images applications can use. Adafruit reports this as progress toward making the Fairphone 6 viable for Linux users.
