Israeli strike that killed journalist in Lebanon was war crime, say rights groups

world

Three rights groups say an Israeli strike that killed Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil and injured her colleague Zeinab Faraj in April was a war crime. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and Legal Agenda found Israel deliberately and directly targeted the two women with apparent knowledge they were civilians, the Guardian reports. The groups are calling for the strike to be investigated as a war crime, with Human Rights Watch also urging states to halt arms sales to Israel and impose targeted sanctions on officials it holds responsible.
