Trains stop across north-west England after power cut hits signalling centre

A power cut at the signalling centre controlling rail services in north-west England on Thursday knocked out Northern and TransPennine trains, The Guardian reports. Widespread cancellations ensued and other services were delayed by more than an hour, with passengers urged to avoid travel.
