In one case study of an off-grid home in regional New South Wales, when an architect and energy specialist collaborated from the design's start, they reduced battery storage needs by nineteen percent and cut upfront costs by eleven thousand dollars—fifteen percent lower—while maintaining full reliability. The advice: start by making your home efficient. Review your electricity use through smart-meter data, assess your insulation and shading, and only then size your battery to match your actual needs.
