Trump faces calls for windfall tax on big oil’s profits from Iran war
politics
Per The Guardian, President Trump is criticizing oil companies for profiting from the Iran war—a conflict his own policies helped enrich them from. Chevron reported second quarter earnings of twelve billion dollars, up nearly four hundred percent, while ExxonMobil's profits more than doubled to fourteen point five billion dollars. Advocates say if Trump really believes his complaint, he should endorse a windfall profits tax on those gains. So far, Trump has only suggested the companies should return some money to the public.
