Trump orders new 15% tariff on key material for solar panels and microchips

The Guardian reports that Donald Trump has ordered a new fifteen percent tariff on imported products made with polysilicon, a critical ingredient for microchips and solar panels that's primarily produced by China. Effective December fourth, the tariff aims to strengthen US domestic supply chains and help America compete with Beijing on artificial intelligence and clean energy technologies.
