politics

The Trump administration has ended temporary protected status for hundreds of thousands of Haitians, stripping years of legal residency and work authorization, The Guardian reports. On Wednesday, U.S. district judge Ana Reyes confirmed her order blocking the removal was no longer in effect, following a controversial Supreme Court ruling in June. The destination is Haiti—a country marked by crime, violence, and political unrest—and the Department of Homeland Security is actively pursuing enforcement; its secretary Markwayne Mullin states, 'We're going after them right now.'
