A Sydney gardener has been fined one hundred eighty-seven thousand five hundred dollars for unlawfully removing two hundred eighty-seven native trees from protected council-owned bushland. Per The Guardian, Yi Wang organized and carried out the destruction at Woodford Bay in Longueville in late twenty twenty-three to improve water views for a harbourside mansion. The local council called it the worst act of environmental vandalism in Lane Cove's history.
