Iran-aligned Houthis claim they attacked oil refinery in Saudi Arabia

world

Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis have claimed responsibility for an attack on a Saudi oil refinery early Sunday. This claim comes two days after Saudi Arabia signed a defense pact with Turkey and Pakistan in response to escalating regional tensions linked to the US-Israel conflict with Iran. Per The Guardian's reporting, Iran has meanwhile issued fresh demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while the United Arab Emirates says one of its ships was targeted by an Iranian missile. Diplomatic efforts to restore access to the strategic waterway remain stalled.
