Iran appoints former IRGC chief to top security post

Iran's Supreme Leader has appointed Mohsen Rezaee, former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to head the Supreme National Security Council. Per Middle East Eye, Rezaee now serves as the Supreme Leader's representative on the council, placing him at the center of Iran's defense decision-making. He replaces Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr. Rezaee brings decades of military experience, including previous command of the Revolutionary Guard and a prominent role in the Iran-Iraq War of the nineteen eighties.
