Apple tests Chinese memory chips

tech

Apple is testing memory chips from China's CXMT in iPhones and MacBooks, per Semafor, as global supplies tighten amid AI demand. The company is seeking White House approval to use the chips in products sold in China, two months after Tim Cook raised prices due to chip costs. That plan faces bipartisan opposition: U.S. senators discouraged the move in July, as Washington escalated restrictions on Beijing's technology ahead of next month's summit. CXMT, which went public last month, lags two to three generations behind established competitors like Samsung and SK Hynix.
