Prime suspect in Rs8.5bn Yellow Line graft case under NAB scrutiny

A senior Pakistani official is facing mounting legal pressure in a major corruption case. Zameer Abbasi, who oversaw Karachi's Yellow Line transit project, stands accused of authorizing eight point five billion rupees in advance payments to contractors without proper guarantees or supporting contract terms. The National Accountability Bureau, Dawn reports, has now launched a separate inquiry into allegations that Abbasi accumulated personal wealth far beyond his government salary and benefited from irregular promotions within the Sindh government. His bail was denied.
