Dubai developers ride out property slowdown
business
Emaar, the Dubai developer behind the city's iconic skyline, posted a twenty-one percent revenue rise in the first half of twenty twenty-six, despite a slump in new property sales. Per Semafor, new sales dropped forty-two percent—a decline Emaar attributed to fewer launches. The broader market tells a similar story: sales across Dubai fell by roughly a third in the second quarter, while prices have barely budged after climbing nearly seventy percent in the five years before the war. It's a sharp contrast to Dubai's past crises, when prices halved after twenty oh eight and fell again from twenty fourteen to twenty twenty. Five months into the US-Iran war, prices have held more stable. Still, pressure mounts. Arada blamed wartime delays in building material deliveries for a twenty-nine percent drop in earnings.
