Rare animals threatened as wildfire ravages New Forest heathland

More than one hundred twenty firefighters are battling a devastating wildfire on protected heathland in the New Forest, according to the Guardian. The blaze started on Sunday after a van caught fire on the A31 near Ringwood, and the New Forest national park authority says the affected area is home to a number of rare species.
