Power goes dark across a Russian resort city under drone warning, a week after a beach strike killed seven

world

Power went dark across the Russian resort city of Gelendzhik on Sunday afternoon, according to Meduza, after a morning warning of possible Ukrainian drone attacks. Sirens sounded intermittently, beaches were closed, and the outage spread to nearby villages and Novorossiysk, while over seventy traffic lights failed in Krasnodar. City officials attributed the blackout to an automated load-shedding system at a higher-level grid operator, and regional emergency authorities said power would return within two hours. The disruption comes a week after a drone crashed and exploded on a beach in the same district, killing seven people, including four children.
