Researchers at Manchester's Institute of Biotechnology have engineered a new family of enzymes that forge carbon-carbon and carbon-nitrogen bonds with high selectivity. The team, led by Dr. Zachary Birch-Price and Professor Anthony Green, demonstrated how these artificial enzymes can be adapted across a broad range of bond-forming reactions, Phys.org reports. The work opens new possibilities for biocatalysis.
