Israel and Venezuela restore diplomatic relations after years of severed ties

The breakthrough comes under Venezuela's acting President Delcy Rodriguez, who has pivoted the country toward the United States since January, a shift away from the prior government's alignment with Iran and the Palestinian Authority. The two nations have agreed to establish a coordination mechanism for consular services, capping months of informal contact—including a shipment of Venezuelan oil to Israel in February and subsequent Israeli humanitarian aid after a June earthquake that killed over six thousand Venezuelans.
