Verdant, a green thinktank, estimates this summer's heatwaves cost the UK economy more than four point four billion pounds in lost output through July, with projections suggesting the annual figure could reach twenty-five billion pounds by twenty thirty. The group is calling for policies including maximum working temperatures and urban redesign to help cities cope with heat.
