Mass evacuations in Beijing as Typhoon Dolphin brings more torrential rain to China

Beijing has evacuated thousands of residents from flood- and landslide-prone areas as the remnants of Typhoon Dolphin dump torrential rain on northern and central China. The Guardian reports forecasters warned on Tuesday that the capital could see more than one hundred fifty millimeters of rain in twenty-four hours, with some districts expected to top two hundred millimeters — over a third of Beijing's average annual rainfall of five hundred twenty-eight millimeters.
