Game Review Part 2: Slay the Spire 2 deeply understands what its players want
entertainment
Slay the Spire 2, the deck-building card game in Early Access, earned a six-out-of-seven score from Nazish Talati at Dawn. The sequel introduces two new playable characters: the Regent, an imperious space ruler who deploys servants and stacks devastating floating-sword attacks, and the Necrobinder, a "vengeful flaming skeleton sorcerer" paired with a loyal pet hand named Osty. Both bring layered mechanics that reward different strategies. The game also unlocks alternative regions to keep runs unpredictable and introduces new NPCs called Ancients that grant between-act power-ups with personality. Talati notes the developers listened closely to player feedback and wove novel features into a tried-and-true formula that still feels fresh. Slay the Spire 2 costs eleven dollars and ninety-nine cents on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
