US teens are smoking and vaping less than their peers abroad

health

Youth smoking in America has hit a historic low. According to The Conversation, a new FDA survey of students ages eleven to eighteen found just one point four percent currently smoking—a dramatic plunge from nineteen ninety-seven, when over a third of high school students reported smoking, and seventy percent had tried it at least once. Vaping, too, has declined to five point two percent, its lowest point since peaking in twenty nineteen. One surprise: nicotine pouch use has risen and now sits at one point seven percent, though the rate has stabilized. The United States also stands out internationally—young people here are vaping at notably lower rates than peers in Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
