Announcing the 2026 Hackaday Retrocomputing Challenge

Hackaday is hosting its twenty twenty-six retrocomputing challenge, inviting makers and enthusiasts to showcase restoration and creative projects built around vintage computers. The contest runs through October twenty-seventh, with three winners receiving one hundred fifty dollar gift certificates from sponsor DigiKey. Projects range from restoring classic hardware like the Commodore sixty-four or PDP-8, to building modern systems with retro designs, or bringing old machines online with today's internet. Hackaday reports the challenge also welcomes new software written for older machines, from demoscene productions to practical utilities. It's a chance for the retrocomputing community to celebrate decades-old machines that still run and inspire.
