Ancient Milky Way Merger

Per NASA News, about twelve billion years ago a dwarf galaxy called LKH collided with the young Milky Way and merged with it. NASA News reports that the Hubble Space Telescope study, recently published in Nature Astronomy, shows definitive evidence of that merger, extending our knowledge of the galaxy’s history further back in time. As NASA News tells it, the finding was detailed in the journal Nature Astronomy.
