LHC collisions reveal oxygen and neon's shifting nuclear geometry
science
Phys.org reports that the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, which smashes subatomic particles at nearly the speed of light, is also helping scientists visualize the structure of familiar atoms like oxygen and neon. While the LHC is best known for discovering new particles, these experiments focus on the shape of atoms we already know.
