Iron hydride enters an exotic state of matter under Earth's inner-core conditions
science
Researchers at Science Tokyo have identified experimental signatures of superionic iron hydride under conditions that mimic the center of our planet. Per Phys.org, the team used electrically wired and laser-heated diamond-anvil cells to observe this exotic state of matter. These results offer new insights into the dynamics and composition of Earth's inner core.
