The federal government has authorized the deployment of three companies of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi for six months, citing sensitive security duties. The interior ministry's order, dated August twenty-first, invokes Article 245 of the Constitution, which allows armed forces to be deployed in aid of civil power.
