TikTok settles children's privacy case with $400 million payment

France 24 reports that TikTok has reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over allegations it violated children's privacy laws. The company will pay three hundred million dollars immediately, with another one hundred million dollars due later. The case centered on the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which requires parental consent before collecting personal information from kids under thirteen.
