Where have organoids actually been useful?

Organoids, which are miniature, lab-grown versions of organs, have shown significant success in predicting how cancer patients will respond to chemotherapy. As LessWrong reports, some studies have demonstrated nearly perfect sensitivity in identifying patients who will not respond to specific treatments, potentially sparing them from toxic drugs. However, these tools are not yet standard in oncology care, partly because the process of growing the organoids can take up to ten weeks, and there are often few alternative treatments available if a patient is found to be a non-responder. More recently, a French biotech firm called Orakl Oncology has used organoid biobanks and machine learning to predict the outcomes of entire clinical trials, per LessWrong.
