Nevada wildfire forces tens of thousands to evacuate as blaze threatens city of Reno

France 24 reports that a wind‑driven wildfire has blanketed Reno, Nevada, in smoke, forcing schools to close and prompting mass evacuations. About twenty‑four thousand residents remain under evacuation orders, down from a peak of more than forty thousand, while tens of thousands more stay on alert. The evacuation orders remain in force as the fire continues to burn.
