A Sydney teacher has spoken publicly for the first time about the shark attack that cost her an arm. Leah Stewart, thirty-four, a teacher and mother of a one-year-old daughter, was bitten by a large shark during a morning swim at Coogee beach on June thirteenth, The Guardian reports. In the interview, Stewart recalled coming face-to-face with the animal, which she described as a "monster," and said her thoughts in that moment turned to her daughter.
