Satellite analysis tracks carbon cost of coastal erosion
science
Coastal wetlands and marshes from Texas to Maine are releasing more than one point four five billion pounds of carbon into the ocean annually, per Phys.org. This research, supported by NASA, notes that while these marshes store significant amounts of carbon in their soil and plants, that storage is being impacted by human development, rising seas, and storms.
